Receiving care as a child from community health workers in a church basement, learning about the complexities of geriatric medicine from a longtime client, travelling with a young student back to his hometown in Haiti; all of these things have led me to my focus on global and community health & medicine, education, and the politics and policy that affect them.
Kate’s work has been featured in publications for AARP, The Atlantic, Bloomberg News, Getty Images Solutions, Google, Harvard University, the Hechinger Report, IBM Global Business Services, NPR, PBS Newshour, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and U.S. News & World Report, among many others.
She is a trained medical photographer, BLS qualified, and a member of Mass General Hospital’s Global Disaster Response and Humanitarian Action team.
Kate grew up in Michigan and lived in Kansas, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science at the Univ. of Kansas, and she also holds a Certificate in Digital Marketing from the Univ. of Vermont.
Her documentary work has been exhibited and sold in the Boston area. She has won multiple awards from Suburban Newspapers of America, the New England Newspaper Association, the New England News and Press Association, the New England Society of Healthcare Communications, and the BioCommunications Association.
